Delta polls: Opposition party concedes defeat -Jonathan Onwuka


The Governorship candidate of the Advanced Congress of Democrat, ACD, in the just concluded April 11th 2015 governorship election in Delta State, Dr. John Breakforth Onwubuya, has called on the Governorship candidates of Labour Party, LP, Great Ogboru and the All Progressive Congress, APC, candidate, Otega Emerhor to join hands with other well meaning deltans to congratulate the Governor elect and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, on his victory describing it as a victory for " all deltans".

Dr. Onwubuya, who made the assertion when he paid a solidarity visit to Senator Okowa at his residence in Asaba, on Thursday, said the election was very credible and peaceful, adding that Deltans have by their votes spoken in one voice and in support of development.

While formally conceding defeat to Okowa, the ACD governorship candidate noted that it was God that made his emergence possible, even as he expressed his willingness to form an alliance with the governor-elect to move the state forward, saying that as a stakeholder he also shares in the victory, as according to him, "the victory will further unite all Deltans "

Responding, the Delta State Governor-elect, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, noted that the visit and show of solidarity of the ACD governorship candidate was a true demonstration of love and unity, stressing that such display was a true reflection of genuine love for Delta State.

Senator Okowa, who expressed his readiness to partner with all Deltans, said his administration will touch the lives of every Deltan, irrespective of ethnic origin or political affiliation, adding that he was ready to tap the best of all resources by relating with all shades of opinions.

He however, express hope that other contestants will emulate the ACD governorship candidate by accepting the outcome of the election and unite with him to bring development to every part of the state
