Read What Was Done To Motorcyclist Who Impregnated 14-Year-Old
Monday Magbade, a Lagos commercial motorcyclist who allegedly raped and impregnated a 14-year-old girl, has been arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday, October 12.
The suspect pleaded innocent to the charges and was granted a N500,000 bail for an offence that contravenes section 137 of the criminal law of Lagos state 2011.
Simeon Imhonwa, the prosecutor, said the accused committed the offence between June and July at his residence.
The accused was reportedly a co-tenant of the girl’s parents when he started sleeping with her.
Imhonwa told the court: “Magbade lured the 14-year-old with various gifts and became friendly with her. At a time, he invited her to his room and defiled her while promising to marry her. When he moved out of the house, the accused persistently invited her to his house and continued to defile her. My Lord, the girl is now pregnant.’’
However, the magistrate, Bola Osunsanmi, in her ruling, ordered that the case file should be duplicated and forwarded to the director of public prosecutions (DPP) for advice.
Osunsanmi also admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum. The case was adjourned to Monday, November 23 for DPP’s advice.
Meanwhile, the police are on the trail for a 61-year-old guard in Lagos, simply identified as John, who allegedly raped two sisters by appeasing them with N200.
According to The Punch, the incident happened in Fidella street, Aladura Estate where the girls, aged 11 and 10 respectively, were usually given N200 by John each time he raped them.
Investigations revealed that the accused threatened to kill them if they told anyone about it.
The mother of the girls, Rosemary Peter, a food seller, discovered the alleged defilement on Sunday, August 30, following complaints of back pains by the girls. Rosemary said she also noticed that the private part of one of the girls was slack.
