Okowa Vows to Revoke Undeveloped Plots Of Land At Industrial Estate
TOWARDS speedy industrialisation of Delta State, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has said that undeveloped plots of land at industrial estates would be revoked.
The Governor who commissioned a rice mill and inspected various equipment at Raymos Guana’s farm in Asaba stated that undeveloped plots of land that were yet to be developed three years after its allocation would be revoked.
He observed that there were many industrialists in need of land to establish their organisations and frowned at situations where lands are allocated to industrialists who had no interests in doing business in the state.
“We will revoke the certificate of occupancy of any plot of land in the industrial estate which is over two years from the date of issuance that has not been developed or the owners have not shown considerable presence of usage, so that those in need of land can get them, develop them and engage our youths industrially.” He said.
The Governor further emphased, “I will call for the records of all the plots of land in this industrial estate and ensure that we put the land to equitable use.”
Governor okowa lauded Raymos Guanah’s farm for its commitment towards growing and processing agricultural produce, assuring that his administration would partner with committed industrialists as such would not only bring about speedy development but, would keep the youths positively engaged.
According to him, “I am excited at the level of development that I have seen in this farm today, especially because of the level Barrister Raymos Guanah (Chief Executive Officer of Raymos Gunanah’s farm) has taken this farm to, beyond his cultivation of crops, his passion has led him to full mechanisation of the farm and now, he has a one tonne rice mill.”
“I want to congratulate you on what you have achieved, you have demonstrated today that no matter what you read in school, you can succeed in farming if you have the passion and with commitment and passion, you will succeed as God will support you, you are a role model to our people, especially, our youths and we will partner with you in your efforts to empower our youths in agro business especially, rice production and improving food security in the nation,” he said.
Senator Okowa promised to give a tractor to the farm through the Production and Processing Support Programme (PPSP) of his administration.
Barr. Guanah had in an address informed the Governor that the total cultivated rice farm size was 160 hectares from which about five hundred metric tonnes of rice would be harvested.
The commissioned equipment were tractor operated threshers, tractor operated winnowers, tractor operated water pumps for dry season farming, tractor operated maize thresher, tractor operated cassava planter, harvesters, among others.
