Quite factually and unarguably,His Excellency, Gov Okowa has established a norm or trend through his well-articulated and systematic execution of his programmes and policies that now serve to elicit and garner admiration from all and sundry.
Definitely, I know that the naysayers and detractors will always consider any forms of accolades for the Governor as misplaced. However,much as I also personally loathe sycophantic praise, I equally subscribe wholesome to the saying in our local parlance that :'when you praise a labourer,such befitting praise serves as energizer to his palms for more work'. So,if Governor Okowa does well,shouldn't we mention and commend him even if the SOLE purpose of doing such is to encourage him to do more?I think this is proper to do.
Speaking in specific terms now,the current empowerment programmes of the State Government targeted at Delta State youths is one that bears commendation. Most of us are aware of the repeated avowal of His Excellency (during the period of Elections) of his desire to incorporate in his S.M.A.R.T Agenda, a Comprehensive Framework for the economic / entrepreneurial positioning of the youths in the State;hence,it is soothing to see him keep faith with his campaign promises.#
Furthermore, my appreciation of this progressive feat is premised on my belief that in deliberately beginning with the youths on his sojourn as the Chief Executive of the State,Gov Okowa has added teeth to his convictions that youths are not just the 'Leaders of Tommorrow ',but that they are also the indispensable,virile and active population required in the economic hub and labour force of any nation. It is therefore a case of saying something akin to this -no youths, no meaningful economic life for any Country, State or Local Community!
By and large,it is obvious that Gov Okowa is a man on a Mission -one that sees him unrelentingly seeking and fashioning out ways to better the lot of Deltans. Across board,Deltans are gratified to see his staunch and entrenched inputs and achievements in virtually all sectors-Economy,Politics,Health,Aviation,Agriculture,Commerce,Legislature and so on. Moreover,come to think of it;the man has barely been in office for about 100days!I presume safely therefore that Gov Okowa is poised to achieve much more throughout his tenure if he continues in this manner or pattern.
In all of these,what I wish the Governor is more power to his elbows.
