Dame Okowa Harps On Effective Use Of Donated Amenities
THE need to use basic amenities provided by donor agencies and good-spirited individuals for the purpose they were provided has been brought to thereore.
This was stated yesterday by the wife of Delta State Governor, Dame Edith Okowa, while handing over an ambulance provided by Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in partnership with the state and federal government, for Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.
Dame Okowa stated that the provision came at the right time when it would be used to alleviate the hardship being experienced by individuals in cases of emergency to the nearest health facility and solicited the attention of the body to make such provisions to the remaining local government areas in state.
She equally used the opportunity to commend the Permanent Secretary, Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), whom she said helped in facilitating the provision of the vehicle.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary ,Millennium Development Goals, Mrs. Constance Nwani had informed the governor’s wife that as a conditional grant programme that the state government had met it own condition of providing their counterpart funding which helped in facilitating the provision of the vehicle.
Mrs. Nwani said that the programme was designed to alleviate the problems of the poor and the less-privileged in the society which is in line with the mandate of Federal Government and MDGs.
Highpoint of the occasion was presentation of the vehicle’s key by Dame Edith Okowa to the Chairman, Aniocha South Local Government Area, Chief Isaac Anwuzia.
