2015: OWA OYIBU ELDERS COMMEND OTU UMU-NWANNE, PLEDGE TO SUPPORT OKOWA –Hon. Ifeanyi Egboigbe

A head of the 2015 Governorship election in Delta State, Elders and youths of Owa-Oyibu have pledged to support for Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa as the most capable among those seeking to succeed Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan.

The pronouncement was made during the visit of Otu Umu-Nwanne, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) pressure group at Odogwu hall, Owa Royal Palace, Owa-Oyibu on Wednesday 31st July 2013 where they asked Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to contest the 2015 Governorship election. The members of the group who spoke through their Coordinator, Hon. Ifeanyi Egboigbe, said having pain stakingly assessed all aspirants from Delta North who have indicated interest in governing the state, the group found Sen. Okowa to be the most eligible in terms of experience, records of good performance, and grassroot connection.

Describing Okowa as a humble and God fearing man, who has continued to identify with the people, he urged the gathering to support plans to make Okowa the successor to Gov. Uduaghan though Senator Okowa made his intention public, he disclosed. He described Okowa as a grassroot politician who has impacted greatly on people’s lives even as he Hon. Egboigbe urged Owa people to remain loyal to the People Democratic Party (PDP). A popular youth member Mr. Isiator Gwu Godwin, thanked the group for honouring the community with their visit, saying that the people are prepared to support efforts that will help develop Ika nation.

He therefore called the group to always identify with the youths in Owa Kingdom saying that by the time Sen. Okowa becomes the number one citizen of Delta State, their lives will improve.
