DESOPADEC To Train 20 Pilots
Managing Director of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Warri, Delta State, Chief William Makinde, weekend, assured that the organization would train at least 20 pilots during his tenure despite dwindling allocation to the state.
“Before my tenure will come to an end, the commission must produce not less than 20 commercial pilots. In spite of the dwindling revenue of the state occasion by the drastic fall in the oil prices, which is also affecting the revenue of the commission, our focus will be on human capital development of our youths, women and other sectors of the economy,” Makinde disclosed in Warri when Urhobo staff of the commission hosted him and DESOPADEC commissioners of Urhobo ethnic extraction.
The managing director also said that the commission would adopt 50-50 ratio for both men and women in its youth development programme, adding that the present board of the commission would review and complete viable projects inherited from the previous board and also execute new projects.
Also speaking at the gathering, president of the DESOPADEC Urhobo Staff Association, Comrade Omoemu Oriogbe, expressed happiness at the appointment of Chief Makinde as managing director. He appealed to him to appropriately address staff welfare.
