2015 POLLS: AMUFA CALLS FOR TOTAL SUPPORT FOR OKOWA, NWAOBOSHI, NWAOKOLO, ELEKEOKWURI
IKA WEEKLY
A Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon John Amufa has called for total support for the PDP governorship candidate for Delta State , Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, the Delta North Senatorial candidate, Chief Peter Nwaoboshi, PDP House of Representatives candidate for Ika federal constituency, Hon Victor Nwokolo and the PDP House of Assembly candidate for Ika North East, Mr. Tony Elekeokwuri.
Hon Amufa, who is also the chairman, United Ika Landlords/Landladies Association made the call on Monday, March 1, 2015 while granting interview to Ika Weekly at his Boji-Boji, Owa residence.
His words, “I want to use this medium to remind the electorate that the postponement of the 2015 polls cannot stop us from voting for President Goodluck Jonathan, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Hon Victor Nwokolo and Mr. Tony Elekeokwuri in the March 28 and April 11, elections. First I wish to appeal to all Deltans to irrespective of party affiliations and tribe vote for Senator Okowa because of his credibility and track records. I need not to mention all the qualities of Okowa because they are already known by Deltans. We thank God for making Okowa win the governorship primary in Delta State. We have accepted the postponement because we know that it is going to help us prepare for the elections and also give Okowa enough time to arrange the team that will help him rule Delta State when he becomes governor.
It is our prayer that God will give him men and women with wisdom and the sincere heart by the time he starts running the affairs of Delta State as governor. We are not afraid of the candidates of the opposition because we know that the Almighty God has given Okowa victory and we are waiting for his swearing-in ceremony as governor come May 29. I pray for God's continued protection of Okowa's life as he goes about his electioneering campaigns. On the National Assembly elections, Hon Amufa appealed to the people of Delta North Senatorial District to cast their votes for the PDP senatorial candidate, Chief Peter Nwaoboshi. He said though, Nwaoboshi may have stepped on toes during the time he served as the state chairman of the PDP but he should be voted for since he is the candidate of the PDP. He described Hon Victor Nwokolo as the best person to represent Ika federal constituency in the House of Representatives, noting that Hon Nwokolo has performed creditably well as House of Representatives member despite the litigations against him by Hon Doris Uboh.
He disclosed that Nwokolo even though he does not like blowing his own trumpet has outside constructing blocks of classrooms, health centres and providing street lights/transformers in communities in his constituency has since he become a law maker been paying hospital bills for those who are sick, donating to churches and giving job to unemployed Ika youths.
“Nwokolo is the only federal lawmaker in Ika land to use more than N30 million to empower his people. His predecessors did not know anything call empowerment. They represented only themselves and family members the time they were there. While I advise Nwokolo to always pick his phone calls as his mentor, Senator Okowa usually does, I appeal to our good people of Ika federal constituency to cast their votes for him in the March 28 House of Representatives election to enable him do more for us, his people.
“For the House of Assembly election in Ika North East constituency we should cast our votes for Mr. Tony Elekeokwuri. Mr. Elekeokwuri is a credible candidate who if given our mandate is not going to disappoint us. He knows that Umunede with one ward has been politically marginalized, hence, he should use his office as a lawmaker to make Umunede get four wards. I had said before that Umunede is too big to be one ward. Mr. Elekeokwuri when elected should work to bring good governance to the door steps of his people. Anybody who fails to vote for Mr. Elekeokwuri should be regarded as the enemy of progress.
“I also used this medium to call on our people to support the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan. We should vote PDP in all the elections. We should vote PDP for a better future for our people.
