IKA POLITICAL PROGRESSIVE UNION, OGWASHI-UKU CHAPTER CANVASSES SUPPORT FOR OKOWA, TAKES SOLIDARITY CAMPAIGN TO ASABA

IKA WEEKLY

Members of Ika Political Progressive Union, Ogwashi-Uku Chapter in Aniocha South local government area of Delta State on Tuesday February 3, 2015 took their solidarity campaign for the Ika born governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to Asaba, Capital of Delta State. The solidarity train registered its presence at the new Peoples Democratic Party Secretariat Opp, WAEC Office, Asaba in conjunction with the Ika Progressive Alliance.

The members of the union distributed flyers and posters along all the major Streets of Asaba announcing their unshaken support for the Senator Okowa, and all PDP candidates contesting for political office. When the solidarity train got to Anwai Road Campaign Office of the Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, the director in charge of non-indigene and focus group, Chief Ochonogor Festus was highly elated seeing the enthusiasm of the union members. Receiving the members of the union, he said, “We have seen the manifestation of the interest and support you have for Senator Okowa. We will continue to partner with you particularly when it is your desire that we win all our elections. We will not be tired of partnering with support groups. I want to appreciate your solidarity, and I urge you to keep partnering with us. We are determined to deliver all our candidates starting from President Goodluck Jonathan down the line across the state. I want to also assure that we will continue to relate with you. Our governor in waiting has much regard for this organization that is why we are reaching out to all of you.” He assured the support group of continued relationship and partnering to make Delta State a great place.

Speaking to newsmen at the venue of the event, the chairman of Ika Political Progressive Union, Mr. Chukwudi Jeremiah said they are supporting Senator Okowa for the governorship seat of Delta State come February 28, 2015. “We have come here to register our solidarity for Okowa. He should not be shaken because we in Ogwashi-Uku in Aniocha South local government area are solidly behind him for victory. We will vote for him and all PDP candidates.”
Speaking in the same vein, the vice chairman of the group, Mr. Godwin Obihan explained that “Ika Political progressive Union have come to campaign in Asaba to sensitize the people about the need to vote in our brother Senator Okowa as governor.

Wherever people of Ika extraction domicile in Aniocha South and indeed anywhere, they should come out and vote Senator Okowa as governor. Our people anywhere should begin to form associations toward the actualization for Okowa's governorship success come February 28, 2015. We will all gather to thank God and celebrate for making it possible for Okowa to be at the Unity House. In Owa-Alero for example, we don't have water and no stadium. Oghara, Ugheli, Warri are all feeling the impact of governance. When Okowa is sworn-in, I see a glorious development enveloping Ika nation.

Therefore all hands must be on deck to vote in Senator Okowa as governor. Let families and other support groups begin to form associations towards the Okowa for governor project. All Ika indigenes in villages in Aniocha South currently number 2000 individuals have voters cards.

In the following weeks to the governorship election, members of Ika Political Progressive Union will further intensify our campaign and will not relent until we vote in Okowa as governor. Among all the governorship contestants, non has the pedigree of our own Okowa.

We are waiting that God willing come May 29, he will be sworn in as governor.
One of the elders of the union, Chief Nelson Akumazi also stated that Senator Okowa will eventually succeed as governor.
