6,000 PVCs Stolen In Delta
Six thousand permanent voters cards (PVCs) and some registers, have been stolen by unknown gunmen who broke into the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office at Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area, Delta State.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta Police Command, DSP Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the incident, said three of the security guards, Aherebe Godday, Omajemite Justice and Oyubu Ejiro have been arrested for interrogation.
According to the PPRO, the stolen PVCs had been recovered.
“The stolen PVCs have been recovered and a total of seven thousand three hundred and sixty five (7,365) were seen.
“Similarly, detectives in a follow-up investigation arrested one Lucky Aputu ’m’, aged 46yrs of Oji Aputu compound, Onyobulu inland market Road, Oghara and recovered one of the stolen INEC registers from him.”
“Investigation is in progress; while efforts are on to ensure that all those involved in the crime are rounded up. The PVCs have since been handed over to INEC,” she said.
