Lagos Takes Education To Students On Facebook, Twitter
The Lagos State government and the Lagos State University has partnered to launch an electronic-learning and social media project in Lagos State, as part of efforts to aid secondary school students’ performance in school leaving examinations.
The project called “LASG-LASU E-learning and Social Media Project,” is expected to leverage on the wide adoption of the internet, mobile phones as well as social media among students, to take education closer to them.
Speaking at the project launch, held in the Faculty of Education, Lagos State University (LASU), the Project Manager, Professor Peter Okebukola, said the project was aimed at presenting difficult topics in the secondary school curriculum in a learner friendly manner, using e-learning and social media protocols.
According to him, the project would “significantly boost the performance of Lagos State secondary school students in school and public examinations, especially the Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSCE) and the United Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by JAMB.”
The project, which is expected to start fully on January 19, is targeted at six key subjects – English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Commerce.
