Police nabs 10 MASSOB members in Asaba

· As 64 cultists renounce membership of cult groups

The Delta State Police Command dealt a big blow to the activities of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State Of Biafra (MASSOB) as ten of their members were arrested at Powerline and Ominigboma areas of Asaba.

Some of the arrested MASSOB members according to the Image Maker of the Delta State Police Command, ASP Lucky Uyabeme who represented the State Police Boss, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba are: Ndubisi Ezeocha (20yrs) Francis Onuigbo (28yrs), Emeka Izigo (28yrs), Andrew Nwufulu (26yrs) and the acclaimed leader of the Group one Emeka Okafor (52yrs) who hails from Nkanu in Enugu State.

Mr. Aduba who said the suspects were arrested as a result of their attack on vigilante men in the area, also disclosed that the recovery of the following items; 114 Biafran flags, 2boots, 129 Biafran Pounds and Ten shillings, 32 membership forms and other documents, 10 pairs of complete Biafran Police uniform with name tags and 3 cutlasses.

Others are; 7 hard cover notebooks of their minutes of meetings from 2010 till date, 2 military belts and one expended cartridge.

The Police boss who described the acts of the suspects as treasonable said they would be charged to court after investigation.

The leader of the Group, Mr. Emeka Okafor who goes with the designation – Regional Administrator in an interview with our correspondent, vowed to continue with the struggle to fight inequality and injustice and enthrone freedom even if it cost them their lives.

In a related development, the command also disclosed that 64 cultists recently renounced their membership of cult groups in Ughelli North Local Government Area of the State.

The breakdown shows that the Black Axe has 18 members followed by the Bagger Vikens with 16 members while Maphites, Darkest, Eyie, Junior Vikens and Roye has 13,8,6,2 and 1 repented member respectively in that order.

The command which said their repentance was a result of the Command’s appeal to Deltans to shun cultism equally advised other cultists to follow the example displayed by their colleagues and turn a new leaf.
