Okowa’s victory gives hope to Deltans – Odogwu

ABUJA- WITH the Supreme Court’s judgment upholding Sen Ifeanyi Okowa’s victory at the 2015 Delta State governorship election , a grassroots political leader, Hon. Tam Odogwu, has said it has given hope to people of Delta State.

He said: “It was already envisaged that the wisdom of the Supreme Court judges will give our amiable Governor fair hearing and give the right judgment  in favour of him (Okowa) because he won the 2015 governorship election in Delta State by a landslide.

“This is not far-fetched because Okowa has been a man of the people across board even before he nursed the ambition for the number one position in the State. This victory of the Governor indicates the choice of Deltans and it is hope for the people.

“We also appreciate the constitutional rights exercised by his opponents who went even to the Supreme Court, and I encourage them to join hands with the governor to make our state great instead of making it ungovernable, because that era of bitter politics is over.

“With the legal battles laid to rest with the Supreme court judgement, we see it bringing peace and rapid development to the state.”

Odogwu also urged the Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State, Chief Edwin Uzor, and other party chieftains to ensure a peaceful ward congresses.

He said the victory of the Governor at the Supreme Court should serve as a base for uniting the Delta PDP family and also to demonstrate the party’s transparency and discipline in conducting the ward congresses on the parameters of credibility.

“I also urge the Delta State PDP Chairman to please ensure rancour free and peaceful ward congresses across the local government areas. I express optimism and hope that the Governor and State party chairman are ready to conduct very free and fair congresses, and I call on every devoted party faithful to be disciplined and see one another as a family because every member of the party will be carried along in the exercise”, he said.
