Fulani herdsmen, Delta community sign peace pact
TO forestall a peaceful relationship between themselves and their host communities, Fulani herdsmen and host communities in Ethiope West council area of the state, have signed into a peace pact.
The pact which was entered at a meeting attended by the chairman of the council, traditional rulers, community leaders, is aimed at avoiding situations capable of causing crisis in the area.
Charging the herdsmen and their host communities to live peacefully among themselves, the state commissioner of police, Mr. Usman Alkali warned them to avoid situations capable of causing crisis in the area. Alkali who was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, DCP Undie Adie, enjoined herdsmen in the state to refrain from grazing their animals on farm lands in order to avoid any form of impasse with farmers and their host communities.
Both the herdsmen and community leaders, resolved to promptly report to security agencies instead of resorting to self help, against cattle grazing on farmlands among others.
