Hon. John Amufa aka “Amus” was born in 1938 to late Mr Omoerige Amufa and late Amuzie Osademe both of Aliegwe quarters, Owa Alero Community, in Ika North-East LGA of Delta State.He went through different facets of the academic institutions to become an astute Educationist.He's a successful businessman (MD OMEGA BAKERY, makers of OMEGA Bread) and later vied into Property Management that earned him reputable award.
Late Hon.John Amufa went further to expand his network of his great affluence and will by venturing into politics. As a dogged fighter and a reputable figure of note, he contested as a Councillor in his ward(Owa-Alero) under the Zero Party arrangement where he won convincingly and unrivaled,thereby opening to him the vent of representing his people as a Councillor in his Local Council in Owa-Oyibu,
A political bulldozer of our generation and ordained orator of note in lka-land,he's reputably known for hard truths and outspokenness as shown in his strong believe in; and also promoting of equity,justice and fair-play.
Recall also that in the course of fighting for the truth and political fairness in Ika North-East and South in the early 2,000,he came in as a strong voice that heralded the formation of Otu-Eziokwu(meaning-Group of Truthfulness) that pushed for equity,justice and fair-play in Ika political landscape.
An advocate of truth and peace,Late Hon. John Amufa was able to mend fences and build bridges amongst the key political class in the ruling political class of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) across the LGA and Delta North Senatorial district.
A fearless voice and the never tiring political stalwart and enigma,Hon. Amufa held sway in the politics of Ika North-East during the reigns of Hon. Humphrey Iweriebor, popularly called the "Ogidi of Africa politics", as he spoke fearlessly during party meetings and congresses, without engaging in double-standardness in his political dealings.
“Amus” as he is popularly called,is a staunch Okowability to the core from the very beginning.He remained one of the foremost voices in Ika Land that stood for our dear Excellency-Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa in the build up to the 2015 gubernatorial elections.He ardently stood without any iota of deception and fear as he constantly spoke and re-echoed that Sen. Okowa will certainly emerge as the governor of Delta State come 2015 guber polls.
As a great Party Stalwart and stakeholder,he never minces words especially in taking a swipe on the opposition that tends to cause chaos and rancour in the Party either internally or externally.
Late Hon. John Amufa until his demise was married to his beautiful wife and was blessed with children and grand-children.
