ASABA—CHAIRMAN, Governing Council, Delta State School of Health Technology, Ofuoma-Ughelli, Dr. Nelson Ejakpovi, has charged host communities to partner institutions of higher learning in the development process of schools in their areas.
Giving the charge when he led members of the Governing Council and management of the school to pay a courtesy visit on the Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom, HRM Oharisi III, Ejakpovi stressed the need for some of the projects earmarked by interventionist agencies to be executed in the host communities to be sited in the institutions.
“We are aware that every year, the communities make input into projects to be executed by the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, and the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, as partners in the development of the institution. We will appreciate it if the projects are sited in the institution as community projects,” he said.
He noted that at the education summit hosted recently by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, it was observed that for a progressive education sector, there must be synergy between the institution, the community and parents.
He solicited the support and cooperation of the kingdom in the development of the School of Health Technology, Ofuoma, saying, “We cannot do it alone, government alone cannot do it without the support of the host community. The community can attract projects from the NDDC, DESOPADEC, the oil companies and the illustrious sons and daughters of your kingdom, because, we can assure you of our commitment to improve on what we have seen.”
Responding, HRM Oharisi III thanked Governor Okowa for appointing serious-minded persons as Chairman and members of the Governing Council of the institution and assured that his kingdom would partner government and other stakeholders for the growth of the institution.
