Ibrahim Mu’ azu, Director, Corporate Communications of the CBN released the statement via the apex bank’s website. Mu’azu revealed that some scammers are sending messages to bank customers indicating their account have been deactivated due to the BVN deadline to fleece innocent Nigerians.
In the same vein CBN has extended the timeline for Nigerian bank customers in the diaspora to enroll for their BVN to January 31, 2016.
A statement released by the bank’s director of corporate communications, on Monday, November 2, explained that the extension was to enable the customers in diaspora to complete the enrollment as well as link the BVN to their respective accounts. CBN directed Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) to ensure that the exemption is utilised by the targeted group only.
