It was a celebration galore as the church was filled to the brim on 23rd of August, when people from all walks of life across the globe converge at St. Michael Anglican Church Owa Alero (London), Ika North East LGA of Delta State for the Thanksgiving Service to mark the 83rd Birthday of Sir (Chief) Arthur Uzoma Okorie Okowa (JP), the father of Sen. Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, the executive governor of Delta State.
In a sermon at the Holy Communion service, the preacher, Ven. Olomo urge Pa Okowa to always see the need to give thanks to God for attaining that age in good health and for the privilege of being the father of a governor, which make him to be the father of Delta State. In addition, Olomo admonished the large congregation to always seek the grace of God in all their endeavours. As a governor, senator, traditional rulers, Bishops, we all need the grace of God to succeed, because it not by power or by might but by the grace of almighty God.
On his part, the Bishop of Ika Diocese Rt. Rev'd Peter .I. Onekpe offered prayers for the celebrant Pa Okowa, his family and the State.
Dignitaries present at the service and later join the reception include-His Excellency, Sen. Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, governor of Delta State, who of course is one of the sons of the celebrant and his wife, Her Excellency, Dame Edith Okowa, the Deputy governor, Barr. Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, former inspector general of police Mike Okiro, the paramount traditional ruler of Owa kingdom HRM Dr Emmanuel Efeizomor (OON), speaker Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Monday Igbuya, Senator representing Delta South, Sen. Jame Manager and his Delta Central counterpart, Sen. Chief Ighoyota Amori (Odidimadi), Real Admiral Mike Onah, who was the chairman of the reception, the Hon. Commissioner for Economic planning Kingsley Emu, member representing Ika north east at Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Anthony Elekeokwuri and his Ika south counterpart Hon Festus Okoh(chukydandy), Delta State PDP Chairman Edwin Uzor, Hon. Fumkekeme Solomon, Hon. Martin Okonta, Pius Sinebe, Frank Nwugo, Christian Okpambor among others.
