OKOWA URGED TO KEEP BUILDING BRIDGES ACROSS IKA NATION

IKA WEEKLY

The outpouring of commendations, advise and encouragement seem endless as an educationist in Ika Northeast local council area, Mr. Christian Agbobu has bared his mind on what he calls a deserved victory for Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as the Peoples Democratic Party gubernatorial flag bearer in Delta State. He explained that he is so overwhelmed that Senator Okowa picked the ticket. “We are all happy. We have been in the game together when we were in a group called Peoples Solidarity front (PSF). Then the senator was living in Igbanke.

I was the secretary of PSF in Owa Alizomor. Governor Konjere, Nwachukwu Omire, and the present director of Bona Pools, Friday Onuodafin were all involved. We now metamorphosed into the Social Democratic Party (SDP). That was when the Senator was appointed secretary to Ika local government. When the local government was split to Ika North East and Ika South, he contested and became the chairman of Ika North east local council. Since then, we have been working together and now he is the governorship flag bearer of the PDP, Delta State. I urge Dr. Okowa to continue to unite and carry the two local government areas of Ika South and Ika

North East areas together. He should do more to unite us by building bridges that will last. Ekwueme should also pay critical attention to the problem of infrastructure and youth unemployment. Our youths are suffering as majority of them are okada riders. I want Ekwueme to give them something that will keep them going and by the time they are busy, they will not have time to think of committing crime. I also wish to congratulate HRM, Dr. Emmanuel Efeizomor II for giving Ekwueme support toward victory. I also thank the Ijaws for their support. If not for their support, Dr. Uduaghan was having a hidden agenda to knock the heads of the two Ikas together.

I thank God for the wisdom applied by the political leaders of the two Ikas. We are looking forward to seeing the day Okowa will be sworn-in as governor so that he can complete the Old Lagos Asaba road that has been in the budget for 8 years and other abandoned projects. I still want to remind our people not to nurse unnecessary expectations from the senator because he is not a sectional leader but a leader that will cover the entire Delta State.

Hopefully, our noble senator will be governor for only one term. As President Goodluck Jonathan completes his tenure, Okowa will be the running mate to David Mark as vice president.”
