Kidnappers flee after having 2 accidents while abducting ex-commissioner in Delta
Four suspected kidnappers had accidents twice while trying to whisk away an octogenarian, Dr Idodo Umeh, in Delta State.
The incident happened last Sunday morning at Olomoro Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area of the state.
The Nigerian Tribune gathered that after abducting Dr Umeh, an educationist and former commissioner in defunct Bendel State, the suspects sped off, but suddenly had an accident.
The suspects then abandoned the victim in the vehicle, snatched another Kia jeep with registration number LEH 339 SL in order to escape.
But while trying to escape with the Kia jeep, the suspects had another accident and eventually abandoned the vehicle and fled into the bush.
Acting on a tip-off, a combined team of police on patrol and local vigilance group went after the hoodlums and rescued the kidnapped victim abandoned in the first vehicle.
Items recovered from the scene were a locally-made single barrel gun and the two vehicles used by the hoodlums.
