Why we supported Jonathan's re-elction bid-OPC
The National Coordinator of Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Otunba Gani Adams, has declared that he and his members supported former President Goodluck Jonathan’s second term bid in 2015 general election because of his promise to implement the recommendations of the 2014 national conference, and not because of monetary gains.
The OPC leader made the declaration while speaking during an interactive session with committee chairmen, sectional leaders and members of the group, held at Mapo Hall, Ibadan, on Saturday.
He said
“We supported Jonathan for ideological reason. I was one of the delegates to the 2014 National Conference. When we want to decide on voting pattern, it took us some weeks. Four hundred and ninety-six delegates across all sectors and sections of Nigeria attended. We agreed on 98 per cent of our recommendations. Our resolutions were based on consensus through voice voting. We did not reach agreement on derivation of oil. We said it will not be a political affair. For the Jonathan administration to implement the recommendations was enough for us to support him.”Some people said we supported him because of money, no it was on ideological reason.”
