WHY OGBORU, EMERHOR SHOULD NOT APPEAL TRIBUNAL JUDGMENT — EGHAGBEVWA

Lucky Ohwofasa Eghagbevwa, one time deputy president of Enerhen Community Development Committee and currently the deputy president Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), Republic of Ireland. In this interview, he spoke on various issues ranging from Delta Election Petition Tribunal, role of his organisation during the last elections. He also called on the parties that lost at the tribunal to jon hands with Governor Okowa to move the state forward. Excerpts;

What’s your take on  the election tribunal?

First, I want to congratulate the governor and my boss Chief Senator Ighoyota Amori for deserved victory at the poll and the tribunal. As you can see, we are celebrating the dual victory of Senator Ighoyota Amori and that of our prosperity governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.

You can’t deny a landslide victory that is free and fair, the people came out and gladly gave their mandate to our project senator and our SMART governor. As far as I am concerned there is no need for any tribunal. However, they refused to congratulate the winners because their interest comes before the interest of the State. Even a blind man knows that Senator Amori and Governor Okowa won the election hands down.

You live in Ireland; what makes you think that the elections were free and fair?

My support for Senator Amori and Dr Okowa was not done over the air. I travelled to Nigeria to mobilise my people and encourage them to vote en-mass for PDP.

The candidate presented by PDP for the senatorial and governorship elections were easy to market because of their past credible records; that’s the reason Deltans came out to vote peacefully for them. I was there to witness one of the most peaceful and credible elections in Delta State.

What role did your organization play in the last elections?

I am also the coordinator of Unity Train Republic of Ireland. I am the co-founder and director general of Delta youth movement (DYM ) this is the platform we used directly to convey messages to our teeming youths and to educate them to make correct choices on whom to vote for.

Finally, any advice to those that lost at the tribunal?

Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru is one Deltan that is highly respected in the state. He should continue as elder statesman, by joining hands with our prosperity governor to develop the state.

He shouldn’t be tempted into appealing the tribunal’s judgement. The same goes to Olorogun O’tega Emerhor of the APC. Let’s allow the governor to focus in developing our dear state.

Deltans, should be a little bit patient as the governor and his team roll out programmes that will better the lives of Deltans. Some of the key areas this government should look at are: Agricultural development though you know as I do that the government is doing well in this area. Create more job opportunities for our youths through government and private partnership, road construction and maintenance.

The governor has consolidated on the peace initiative of the previous government with the revival of our vocational studies, the youths will soon be self employed thereby fulfilling electoral promises.
