Dwindling Economy Won’t Affect My SMART Agenda –Okowa
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State says the state government is committed to actualizing its five-point SMART agenda, despite the economic quagmire plaguing the state and the nation in general, occasioned by the dwindling oil price in the international market.
Governor Okowa stated this at the reception/award presentation organized in hononur of the Head of Service, Sir Patrick Origho, by the family of Chief David Siakpere and Egbo-Uhurie community in Ugehelli South Local Government Area.
Represented by the Secretary to the Delta State Government (SSG), Hon. Festus Ovie Agas, the governor said the SMART agenda aimed at bringing prosperity to all Deltans “is already on course”.
He called on Deltans to remain peaceful, live harmoniously with one another and support the present administration in its determination to move the state to greater heights.
Governor Okowa enjoined Deltans, particularly the youths, to embrace the entrepreneurship skill acquisition programmes to better their lives, stressing that the present administration would stop at nothing in the training and empowering of youths to, not only become self-reliant or self-employed, but also become employers of labour.
The governor congratulated Sir Patrick Origho on the award and the honour done him by the family of Chief Siakpere and Egbo-Uhurie community, saying that the honour was well deserved.
Earlier in his address, Chief David Siakpere, appealed to the state government to establish a polytechnic in the community as well as rehabilitation of primary/secondary schools in the area, among others.
In his remarks, Sir Patrick Origho thanked the people for the honour done him, promising not to relent in his efforts towards the betterment of humanity and society in general
