Traders in Sabo market, Ikorodu, were greeted by a heartbreaking sight as they arrived their place of business this morning to find that their shops had been demolished the night before.
The
demolition was reportedly carried out by the Lagos state government on
the night of May 3rd, after the traders had closed for the day.
Sahara reporters shared a video of the scene this morning, showing traders as they tried to salvage what they could from the demolished stalls.

In a
separate video, the market women can be seen wailing at the misfortune
which befell them. They blamed Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode,
for the demolition that has caused them to lose their means of
livelihood.
The Lagos state government is yet to comment on this.
