Authorities are investigating an apparent murder-suicide after four bodies were found in a hotel room in Fairbanks, Alaska, on Friday. According to a statement released by the Fairbanks Police Department. Police responded to a call from hotel staff at the Hampton Inn regarding a “suspicious circumstance". When they arrived, they found an adult male crying in the hallway before discovering four dead bodies inside the room. All were suffered fatal gunshot wounds.
Those individuals have been identified as 54-year-old Linda Hutton, 22-year-old Emily McDonald, her husband, 22-year-old McKay Hutton and their 8-week-old child, Teagan Hutton.
The news statement read:
"Officers arrived on scene to find an adult male sitting in the hallway of the second floor crying," the news release stated.
"The male directed the officers to a nearby room. Officers entered the room and found four deceased individuals. The deceased included three adults and one child. All deaths appear to have been caused by gunshots".
According to the young couple's Facebook pages, McDonald and McKay were married and were new parents to 8 week old Teagan. The pair also shared several photos of themselves with a slightly older male child, but it is unclear how he is related to the couple.
In one post on what appeared to be their anniversary in 2015, McKay gushed about his wife.
“Baby I’m lucky to find you and Tj, the most important part of my life,” he wrote. “I can’t wait for many more years. I’ve never found 1 person ever in my life that I could be my complete self with and now I will never be complete without you two by my side, thank you for being in my life everyday through it all. I truly understand what true love is thanks to you, thank you we are the few of the lucky ones.”Police are still investigating the scene and have not released a motive or identified the shooter. In the statement, police said there was no indication that drugs and alcohol played any role at the crime scene.
Deputy Chief Eric Jewkes told the Fairbanks News-Miner:
"What we know is that there's a lot we still don't know. So until we can figure out and put some more pieces together we're not going to talk about a motive or possible scenario of what might have happened."
