Cleric Challenges Amaechi To Show Evidence Of Jonathan’s Alleged N6bn Bribe To CAN
General Overseer of Resurrection Praise Ministries International, Archbishop Samson Benjamin, has faulted Rivers State governor, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, on the alleged N7 billion bribe by the Presidency to Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). He therefore challenged the governor to come forward with evidence of where and when the money was given.
“Amaechi said that pastors were given N6 billion to turn around. I challenge Governor Amaechi to come out and say where and when the money was collected. Dragging the names of our fathers in the Lord to the mud, will never be allowed by us. A man must come out and stand by his father. That is exactly why I have come out to stand by our fathers, that they are men of integrity,” Benjamin told newsmen yesterday.
Amaechi, who is also the Director General of All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Organisation, had recently alleged that the Presidency gave a N6 billion bribe to CAN to mobilise support against his party’s presidential candidate, Maj-Gen Muhammadu Buhari (rtd).
Benjamin, who said he was speaking for CAN, the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria and Apostolic Movement, said that the Presidency did not at any time offer bribe to the Christian body as alleged by APC.
He warned the APC to leave out the church and its leaders from their propaganda.
“APC is taking propaganda too far. They are desecrating the temple of God. They don’t respect the church. I am saying enough is enough. APC should leave Christians alone. APC should leave CAN leadership alone.”
