The Chairman of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Godwin Ogadi, the Ugochukwu-Tumeonye of Ute of Ute Kingdom, on Monday 2nd of March, 2015 commissioned a free centre for Computer Training and Information communication Technology (ICT), established for the people of Ute-Okpu Kingdom by their illustrious son, Mr. Hillary Obioma Ibegbulem, the Special Assistant (SA) to the Delta State Flag-bearer o f the People Democratic Party (PDP) Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa.
Speaking during the commissioning of the ICT Project, Chief Godwin Ogadi commended Mr. Hillary Obioma Ibegbulem for his kind gesture at ensuring the establishment of I.C.T in Ute-Okpu Kingdom which he described as a milestone achievement and a welcomed development. He noted that ever since he became the chairman of the party in the local government he has never seen such a philanthropic gesture. He advised the people of Ute-Okpu most especially the youths to ensure that the I.C.T equipments are judiciously used, just as he urged those who have not collected their PVCs to urgently do so to enable them cast their votes for all the PDP candidates across boards.
In the same vein, the secretary to PDP in Ika Northeast Local Government area, Hon John Aleh, Stressed on the importance of the ICT knowledge which he said is essential in the global world where technology has sway. He noted that through the ICT Knowledge and skill, one can become self-reliant as there are many opportunities in it, such as graphic design, web-design and networking.
In an address from the sponsor, Mr. Hillary O. Ibegbulem, delivered by Barr. Benjamin Okoh, he welcomed all who came to grace the occasion. He noted what made him to embark on such project in Ute-Oku is because he wants his people to benefit from the importance of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) stressing that the Social-Economic Transformation and Development of any society through I.C.T cannot be overemphasized.
According to him, “I decided to established the I.C.T centre in my community because, I perceived that it is no longer acceptable for anyone to be left behind most especially you my kinsmen by not being connected or have access to the globalized and information society. I therefore urge you all to take advantage of the gesture, and ensure its full utilization for teaching, research and learning gets to all most especially the youths. For sustenance and further development in our community, we will all come out en-mass to cast our votes massively for all the PDP candidates”.
Briefing the dignitaries on the uses and importance of the ICT, the computer operator, Mr. Jude Nwaeni said that it is to engage the people with computer knowledge. He noted that he has been mandated by the sponsor, Mr. Ibegbulem to educate every member of Ute-Okpu Kingdom who is interested and willing to acquire computer knowledge.
