Opuoru, Enekorogha, SDP others hail S-Court judgment on Okowa

Special Assistant to Delta State governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, on Political Affairs, Mr. Matthew Opuoru, has described the recent Supreme Court victory of the governor as vital to Deltans in the administration’s quest to divest the economy of the state through its SMART agenda.
Also, Director General of Delta State Direct Labour Agency, DLA, Mr Frank Enekorogha, has described the judgment as victory for democracy.

Enekorogha said: “The Supreme Court verdict is in tune with what happened in Delta State during the 2015 governorship election, when Deltans came out in their numbers to speak with one voice by voting for Senator Okowa.”

He commended the Justices of the Supreme Court for proving that the Judiciary was still the hope of the common man, observing that taking the governor through the long walk of legal processes was unnecessary as his opponents were aware that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, campaigned vigorously despite the fact that the state was the party’s stronghold.

Similarly, Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties to Delta State Governor, Prince Sani Usman, described the court victory as a momentum to further concentrate on the task of creating prosperity for the indigenes of the state.

He urged the opposition in the state to also use the opportunity presented by the victory to support Okowa’s developmental strides, noting that the victory belongs to all Deltans.

Also, member of the state House of Assembly, representing Okpe constituency, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori, said, “I rejoice with Okowa and the entire people of the state. The judgment is a victory for the consolidation of the SMART agenda of the state government.”

He added that Okowa was God-chosen and could not be threatened by opposition.

Continuing, Opuoru, who is also Leader of Okere Urhobo Grassroots Political Forum, OUGPF, at a gathering he organised for PDP leaders and faithful in celebration of Okowa’s court victory, said the judgment has put paid to all forms of distraction in Okowa’s determination to tackle the downward slide in the price of crude oil through his “strategic wealth creation projects and provision of jobs for all Deltans.”

He stressed that the milestone the Okowa administration recently achieved through the Youth Agricultural Entrepreneurs Programme, YAGEP and the Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Programme, STEP, which saw the first batch of trainees graduate after successful completion of the programmes, with the second batch of both schemes soon to commence, “attest to the governor’s visionary leadership.”

Also, the Social Democratic Party, SDP, in state has lauded the Supreme Court judgement that validated the election of Okowa, saying that the verdict will bring goodwill to the people of the state.

In a statement by its state chairman, Dr Oke Idawene, the party commended the judiciary for what it described as a judgement that reflects the mind and true feelings of Deltans.

He appealed to the people of the state, both at home and aborad, to support the administration of the governor “for a greater Delta State.”
