What Gunmen Did To This Boy Will Make You Sad

A four year old boy, Stephen Kanu has been abducted by unknown gunmen in the Abeokuta area of Ogun state around 5pm on Monday, November 2.

The Punch reports that the incident occurred at the family resident. The boy was reportedly playing with the family dog while the mother was engrossed with her chores. The gunmen knocked on the gate of the house and it was Stephen who went to open the gate thinking it was visitors. The suspected criminals grabbed the boy and pushed him into a waiting taxi.

The unnumbered taxi sped off along the Moshood Abiola way. Neighbours reportedly gave chase but were forced to stop when the kidnappers started firing sporadically.

Mucipay, the father of the victim said the kidnappers had not made contact with the family and that he could not name a single person who could be responsible for the criminal act.

“I do not suspect anybody because I did not have any misunderstanding with anyone, neither did my wife.

“The boy was at home with his mother and other children when the incident happened. And we have yet to be contacted by anyone.”

He urged anyone who had useful information to contact him or the nearest police station.

Abimbola Oyemesi, the deputy public relations officer of the state police command sid all police formation in the state have been instructed to arrest the abductors and that hopefully, the four year old boy would reunite with his family safely.

Kidnapping is fast becoming a common crime in Nigeria especially in the south west where it is done for gain as the criminals ask for ransom before the release of the victim.
