Constitution Review ‘ll Advance National Development, Says Otuaro

Regular review of the constitution of a nation has been identified as a way to advance development and make it fall in line with present day realities.

The Delta State Deputy Governor Barr. Kingsley Otuaro, stated this when he played host to members of the Committee on the Unified Local Government Service Staff Regulation of 1977.

Otuaro said the review was timely based on the fact that a regulations of over four decades was already outdated and out of tune with events of the 21st century.

He lauded the committee for its sagacity, thoroughness and level of progress made in the review and pledged government’s readiness in ensuring its official validation and presentation to the public.

The deputy governor said the review will engender productivity in service in addition to addressing all flaws in the regulation that became operational from Mid-western region till now.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Committee and Executive Assistant to the Governor on Legal Matters, Barr. Andrew Odum, said the visit was to intimate the deputy governor on the level of progress recorded so far.

Barr Odum said the committee has gone round the state to gather memoranda to aid the review exercise and expressed the hope that stakeholders’ validation will cap up the assignment given them since inauguration last year.

He solicited the support of Barr Otuaro in organizing a stakeholder’s validation forum for the final endorsement of the review. The highlight of the visit was the presentation of a draft copy of the review to Barr Otuaro by the Committee Chairman, Barr Odum.
