Presidency Bribes Small Parties For Them To Insist On Elections Shift At INEC Meeting – Source


Fresh allegations emerged ahead of the upcoming elections, that the presidency is engaged in bribery of parties.

Premium Times reports with reference to a presidency source that Nigeria’s seniors bribe small political parties that are to meet with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Saturday, to discuss possible postponement.

According to the source, who pleaded for anonymity, the presidency gives between $30,000 to $50, 000 to such parties for them to insist on elections postponement.
“A large chunk of the dollars have also been budgeted to bribe some of the RECs to vote for the shifting of the election.”

Another source confirmed the information saying that the small parties were paid to push for at least 6 weeks shift.

It should be noted that the INEC scheduled separate meetings with chairmen and secretaries of the registered parties to discuss the issue. Thus, the answer to the question if the polls will be shifted is expected over the weekend.

By the moment the parties that have called for the postponement are: the United Democratic Party, the Citizen Peoples Party, the Peoples Party of Nigeria, the Action Alliance, the Peoples Democratic Congress, the Labour Party, Unity Party of Nigeria, Alliance for Democracy, the Democratic Peoples Party, the New Nigerian Peoples Party and the Independent Democrat, ID.

Another scandal broke out earlier this seek as Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, accused the ruling party of bribing some Christian leaders with N6bn. Amaechi alleged, that the PDP paid clerics for them to vote against the APC’s presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).
