Ogun PDP Expels Ex-President Obasanjo After He Dumped The Party
Few hours after he dramatically announced his exit from partisan politics to become a statesman, former President Olusegun Obasanjo has been expelled by the Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The expulsion came on the heels of Monday’s incident when the Owu Chief asked that his PDP membership card be torn by the Chairman of his ward 11 Ita-Eko, Sumonu Oladunjoye.
Speaking with journalists at his Abeokuta residence earlier today, the former president exposed the plot to expel him from the party. “They said they want to expel me from PDP”, he said. “Although I have not been told but I have my ears on ground. We’ve been trying to run away from a man but he pleads we wait for him at the other side of the river. I have told you before that I became president on the platform of PDP, once I leave PDP I will not join any party”.
“I will only be a Nigerian, I am ready to work with anybody regardless of political affiliation. Why would some people say they want to send me away; they don’t need to bother themselves, here’s your membership card, take it”, Mr. Obasanjo said, before dumping his membership card, which was later torn into pieces by Mr. Oladunjoye in the presence of party members and the media.
