West Brom bought Victor Anichebe from Everton just before the transfer window closed, the Toffees confirmed. The club said that the Baggies paid a fee that could rise to £6 million for the striker.

Anichebe had drawn interest from several clubs, with Stoke most notable in the chase for the Nigerian's signature, but West Brom came away with the striker. The Baggies needed a striker after selling Marc-Antoine Fortune and Peter Odemwingie and they got the man they wanted in Anichebe as part of a fast spending deadline day, having also set a club record to buy Stephane Sessegnon.
The 25-year-old Nigerian international had spent his entire career at Goodison Park, having come up through Everton's academy. He had his best goal scoring season last year, netting eight times for the Toffees in a career-high 32 matches.
West Brom are off to a dreadful start to the season with just one point from three matches and they have yet to score. Their impotency led them to shell out for Sessegnon and now they have done the same for Anichebe, hoping that the two can turn around a team whose season could have hardly started any worse.
