Okowa Will Not Tolerate Laziness, Says Uzum
The Executive Assistant to the Governor in charge of Directorate of Orientation, Barr. Eugene Uzum, has warned civil servants to desist from any form of laziness in carrying out their duties.
Addressing staff of the Directorate of Orientation on resumption of duty, Barr. Uzum frowned at situation where staff of the Directorate reports late to work, noting that they should set examples for other Deltans, especially, civil servants.
According to him, "we have moved round the buildings and I am highly disappointed at what we saw; I seriously frown at the level of ineptitude among the staff of the Directorate because, as at 8.30am, civil servants have not resumed at their offices, the entire building was still under lock and key, no sign of life and the level of dirtiness we have seen here today can only be imagined than experienced."
"As staff of Directorate of Orientation, we are bound to set examples for other civil servants including other Deltans; Governor Okowa will not tolerate any form of laziness," he said, asserting, "orientation should take center stage in every administration because it is the information at the disposal of the people that they work with; so, if we are to use this office as a benchmark for every other office in this state, then we have a very serious problem."
"Governor Okowa is in a hurry to develop Delta State and as staff of the Orientation Directorate, it is the grand design for orientation to keep citizens on top of government policies and to act as a feed back mechanism for policy makers towards the implementation of the SMART Agenda," he reiterated.
While disclosing that, "it is our task to mobilize public opinion to support government programmes and policies," Barr. Uzum called for the support of the staff to achieve the task of ensuring positive attitudinal change among Deltans.
Earlier, the Director of Orientation, Mr Willy Sowho apologized to the Executive Assistant and his team for coming late, assuring that the staff of the Directorate would always put in their best to achieve the set goals of the government.
The Executive Assistant in company of his team members, Hon. Innocent Esewezie, representing Delta North, Comrade Rex Anighoro, Delta Central and Prince Abugo, Delta South were conducted round the Directorate by Mr. Conference Kotor and other members of staff.
