AS part of its urban renewal and developmental efforts, the Delta State Government has approved the construction and rehabilitation of four roads in the state.
Speaking during a post executive council press briefing yesterday with the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Patrick Ukah, that of Finance, Olorogun David Edevbie, the Commissioner for Works, Chief James Augoye in attendance, Commissioner Auguoye disclosed that the roads were meant to bring economic development closer to the people and open up the various communities.
Chief Augoye said Owa-Eki/Owa-Alero road would be dualized, while the Ughelli-Afisere-Ufoma road would be reconstructed, adding that the Okpare-Umolu-Kiagbodo road would be rehabilitated and the Kefas road, Oleh would be extended to the Emede-Olomoro road junction.
He stated that the ongoing work at Okpanam road would be sped up for quick completion before the rains set in.
Chief David Edevbie in his brief explained that the Delta State Government generated an average of N3.5billion monthly as internally generated revenue; adding that the state government was able to pay its workers’ December salary before the Christmas celebration.
