Senator Ifeanyi Okowa takes Delta State by storm as he officially declares for Delta Guber 2015

For those who came into the town of Asaba for the first, the traffic jam with people in branded shirts of Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa will deceive one as the campaign of President Goodluck Jonathan. Daily Voice Managing Editor, Fejiro Oliver, who was at the venue reports that Arcade, where the event took place was filled with people who had come from far and wide to pledge their unalloyed loyalty and solidarity to the campaign train of Okowa.

The event which began with an opening prayer was anchored by Urhobo orator, Professor Achonacho who in his characteristics manner wowed the audience with his rhetoric of grammar. Speaking at the event, Prof Sam Oyovbaire, former Minister of Information affirmed that he had travelled all over the State, but had not seen a detribalized Deltan like Okowa. He pleaded with Deltans to give him a chance to lead them come 2015.

The Okowa train was beautified with the presence of the most popular online media team, Deltans Diaspora, whose Co-Founder, Mrs Sophia Odogwu flew in from London to grace the occasion, alongside the National Co-ordinator of the group, Mr Smart Ikem, who notably took the centre stage, as Deltans Diaspora from all over the State and Europe were well positioned, with their branded shirts visibly seen.

The international association to Okowa was further boosted with the presence of the Deltans Diaspora leader from Spain, Lady Vivian Isioma Daco, who was on ground to represent her team. Still basking in the euphoria of pulling international associations, the National Association of South South Students pledged the support of all the South South students to vote for Okowa come 2015. Symbolic with their aluta spirit, they eulogized Okowa as a man who has put smile on the faces of students while expressing pity to opponents who will vie against him during the primaries.

The National Leader of Delta Political Vanguard, Michael Diden aka Ejele was on ground to make his speech. According to him, the event was organized to crown a king, just as it was done in the biblical era, and to him, the king is Okowa. He pleaded with other guber aspirants to allow Okowa lead and wait for their turn. Obviously getting the support of his political leader, James Onanefe Ibori, whom he served under as the Commissioner for Health, the head of the family, Williams Ibori graced the occasion to show solidarity and support towards the 2015 project.

Called to the podium finally to make his declaration, Senator Okowa sang two worship songs to God before he espoused his five points programme which he summarized as SMART. According to him, S means: Strategic Wealth Creation Projects and Provision of Jobs for all Deltans, while M means: Meaningful Peace building Platforms aimed at Political/Social Stability. The A in his programme means: Agricultural Reforms and Accelerated Industrialization, with R meaning; Relevant Health and Education Policies, while the T means, Transformed Environment through Urban Renewal.

He told the mammoth crowd that he is on a message to bring prosperity to all Deltans and the time is ripe to step into Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan’s shoe. Going down memory lane, he reminded the faithful on how he was the Director General of Patrick Osakwe during the latter’s campaign for Senate, which he won. According to him, when Osakwe left the Senate, he handed over to him. Again, during Uduaghan’s campaign, he once again served as the Director General, and history will repeat itself as Uduaghan hands over the baton of leadership to him. With his slogan of ‘Prosperity for all Deltans’, he enjoined all present to be ready for a marathon governance of wealth for all by 2015.

The event which was full of glamour saw various dance groups from all the ethnic groups in the State entertaining the crowd.
