Delta 2015: Okowa visits UPU, described as a detribalised Deltan-Jonathan Onwuka

Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has been described as a man filled with great ides on how to move Delta State forward. He has also been described as eminently qualified to pilot the affairs of Delta State.
The observation was made at Jesse, Ethiope West local government area of Delta State, by the leadership of the Urhobo Progressive Union, ( UPU ), when Senator Okowa paid a consultation visit to the apex Urhobo socio - cultural body last weekend.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Chief Tuesday Onoge noted that what the nation needs are people who are capable and willing to lead the people with equity and fairness, adding that, "at this point, what Deltans truly need is a governor who will carry everybody along irrespective of ethnic origins. We do not need somebody who will come to promote selfish interest."

He noted that Senator Okowa has great ideas on how to move Delta State forward, saying he (Okowa) has been able to convince the people of his readiness to give the state purposeful leadership when given the mandate to lead.

He maintained that the ethnic clamour for different political positions across the country was because of the self interest pursued by a lot of people occupying public offices, adding that Senator Okowa has proved himself a truly detribalised Deltan.

While praying for Senator Okowa, the President - General of Urhobo Progressive Union, Chief Joe Omene, praised Okowa for the many successes recorded in the different positions he has occupied. He particularly commended him for the many bill he sponsored in the Senate, especially the National Health Bill, which he pointed out would have tremendous positive impact on Nigerians.
 
Earlier, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, had informed the UPU leadership of his intention to vie for the position of governor of the state. He said his decision was born out of a burning desire to bring his wealth of experience to give Deltans purposeful leadership that would enhance development in the State.

He promised to run an inclusive administration, "that will ensure equity and fairness in all that we will do. The recognition that is due to each ethnic group would be given to it. We will focus on the strength that unite our people. We will build a state united for the people. "

He said his administration will focus on employment generation, wealth creation, agriculture and industrial development, urban renewal, improved health delivery and technical education.
