No fewer than 14 people drowned on Friday
evening while four others went missing after their boat capsized in a
stream in Anantapuramu district of Andhra Pradesh in India, the police
said on Saturday
They were said to have gone for a joy ride in a fishing boat the after attending a function in the village.
According to a police official, all the victims were closely related and many of them belonged to one family.
Confirming the sad incident, Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas said:
'More than ten bodies were fished out from the stream and were being
shifted to the government hospital in Guntakal for post-mortem.'
According to him, at least six of the victims were said to be children and over five women.
