Ibori Not Talking Politics Now ––Okowa
Contrary to speculations that former Delta State Governor, Chief James Ibori, may join the All Progressives Congress, APC, the State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa ,has said that Chief Ibori was not talking politics for now. Rather, he is more interested in re-uniting with members of his family.
Governor Okowa, disclosed this to journalists at a press conference at the Government House Press Centre, Asaba, during the week.
Consequently, he said, the speculation that Chief Ibori may opt for the All Progressives Congress does not arise as he was currently engaged in his domestic issues, adding that what matters most to him now is his family.
On the 13 per cent oil derivation to the South- South States, he said it was not adequate for the development of the region, noting that the cost of road construction in the region cannot be compared with the cost in the other parts of the country.
On herdsmen’s menace, the governor noted that it was a national problem which can only be solved through the establishment of ranches, even as he maintained that the nation’s Constitution allowed free movement of citizens to any part of the country.
On the Independent Power Project, Oghara in Ethiope WestLocal Government Area, he said investigation regarding what to do with the project is still on-going, explaining that the earlier analysis on the projects was not adequate. “We are still doing a lot of investigations regarding what to do.
He said, “first on my agenda is job creation, to create jobs for unemployed youths and to encourage the private sector.”
He announced that henceforth, he will be spending more time in Warri since the Government House Annex there has fully been renovated.
