A
gallant police officer attached to the Inspector General of Police
(IGP) Special Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Sergeant Felix Igbasan,
was killed in the line of duty on Monday, November 13th.
Sgt. Igbasan died at about 4:00am
at Maitama General Hospital, Abuja, where he was rushed to after
sustaining multiple bullet wounds during a fierce gun duel with an
eight-man notorious armed robbery gang.
The gang, led by one Gabriel
Alfa, were said to have robbed a senior immigration officer in Abuja.
They have been arrested and four AK47 rifles recovered.
Late
Igbasan, who was described as the bravest and most reliable officer in
the team was before his transfer to Abuja, a member of the Special Anti
Robbery Squad(SARS) in Lagos.
In a Facebook post, the Officer-in-Charge of the SIRT unit, Abba Kyari wrote:
He will be laid to rest on November 24th, in his hometown, Okitipupa, Ondo State."Very Sad Day for IRT. We lost one of the Bravest and Most Reliable Personnel of the IGP Intelligence Response Team (IRT) Today. Though we Arrested 8 of the Armed Robbers and Recovered 4 AK47 Rifles, we lost one of our best"
